Antigone and Ireland is a free one-day symposium that will examine the enduring influence of this ancient Greek heroine in Ireland. Since it was first performed, Sophocles’ Antigone has raised vital and troubling questions regarding the law and its limits.

This  event, which is aimed at anyone with an interest in law, literature, or the theatre, will include the perspectives of academics, jurists and practising artists.

A group of distinguished speakers and panellists – including Mr Justice Brian Cregan, playwright Marina Carr, writer Carlo Gébler and academic and playwright Darren Murphy – will all explore Antigone‘s continuing ability to provoke, disturb, and inspire.
