The DAS ARTS Academy from Amsterdam will hold a one day workshop exploring the art of giving constructive feedback in the arts.
The DAS ARTS Academy from Amsterdam will hold a one day workshop exploring the art of giving constructive feedback in the arts. We will recruit participants from both within the festival and outside of the festival to create a diverse working group. 20 selected participants will attend Summertime and Superstructure on Thursday 8 August and use this experience as subject matter in the workshop.
The DasArts Feedback method is an intensely discursive peer-to-peer tool with which we can address interdisciplinary artistic practices belonging to the contemporary performing arts field. Its starting point is philosophical practices, such as the Socratic Dialogue. Such a workshop is primarily an exercise of collective thinking and of vivid reflection on a specific artistic work; it aims to both address the work-in-progress, and the overall artistic practice. Each workshop participant is invited to activate their knowledge and professional expertise in a structured way and experience the three positions that constitute the function of such a workshop; the positions of feedback-giver, of feedback-receiver and of moderator. In the course of the workshop, we first examine its origins: the method’s conceptual and philosophical apparatus. The next step is to practice the method’s 10 concrete formats in the course of a number of feedback sessions, each one is dedicated to an individual (or collaborative) artistic practice.
